 Jake Clements (Manager/Co-Founder)

Jake was born into a family of travelling Burmese acrobats, the seventh of eighteen children. At an early age he realised he had a talent for open heart surgery and a keen interest in mixing fruity margarita cocktails. He would frequently combine both passions. In 1765, at the age of four, Jake murdered nine of his seventeen siblings in a sexually charged fit of rage and fled Burma to take up a position as Head Real Estate Agent in Hopper’s Crossing, where his career would flourish for the next fifty or so years. But the call of his homeland proved too strong, and in the year 356 B.C., at the age of fourteen, Jake journeyed to the northern most point of Greenland, after discovering that his Burmese family was adoptive and that his real parents were an Afghan giant and a Greenlandian salt wife. On the long and arduous journey north, Jake lost both arms and legs to dysentery and was forced to learn how to code websites by communicating with blinks. In his own words, he co-founded ReelGood ‘to get the hot chix.’ He recently took up the habit of letting John Roebuck write his bios for him.

Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we’d make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it’s breathtaking, I suggest you try it.

Derek Armstrong (Head Writer/Podcaster)

eeee

Derek is an American expatriate who has a Captain America t-shirt that he wears around Melbourne very self-consciously. He also has a Step Brothers t-shirt and a Wrath of Khan t-shirt that he wears a little less self-consciously. But he also loves older movies like All About Eve. And no, he is not the least bit self-conscious about the movies he loves. He considers himself a cinematic omnivore — if you’ve got it, he’ll eat it. He ate a lot of movies while writing for All Movie Guide in the U.S. for more than ten years, and he currently snacks on them on his blog, The Audient.

Ruth Richards (Writer/Field Reporter)

wwww

Ruth was raised on a combination of Star Wars, Star Trek, and the occasional Disney film. With a strong fondness for tea, Totoro’s and anything tasty, Ruth considered her favourite films to be The Silence of the Lambs, The Lord of the Rings, and the works of Studio Ghibli…. and still watches Star Trek- because she can. Ruth is a member of the LAMB (Large Association of Movie Blogs) and in 2010 started up her own Film Blog ‘Splendid Film Reviews’.

John Morrissey (Writer/Horror Expert)

qqqqqq

John Morrissey is a law student from Melbourne who enjoys horror films very much. He also enjoys the Dune series by Frank Herbert. John’s bio was too short and looked weird so ReelGood Co-Founder John Roebuck thought it was also worth mentioning that John Morrissey used to be a cage fighter in Hong Kong until one day he evolved into the Pokemon known as Raichu and travelled to the Himalayas to electrocute as much snow as possible. Upon finding that snow electrocution had been outlawed in the Tibet since the early 1930s, John took to a small hole in the ground to occasionally write film reviews and lists. He lives there still.

I wasn’t like every other kid, you know, who dreams about being an astronaut, I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree. Richard Gere’s a real hero of mine. Sting. Sting would be another person who’s a hero. The music he’s created over the years, I don’t really listen to it, but the fact that he’s making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. Do I know what product I’m selling? No. Do I know what I’m doing today? No. But I’m here, and I’m gonna give it my best shot.
