trumbo

Well, what do you know…Trumbo is being released in November, prime Academy Award contention release time. Another year, another swarm of biopics. Truth be told, Trumbo actually looks half decent just going on the trailer below. Truth also be told, most biopics are either woeful or painfully inaccurate regarding truth. And for every Raging Bull there’s a The Imitation Game. Actually, for every Raging Bull there’s a whole horde of The Imitation Games…O Imitation Game, how do I hate thee? Let me count the ways.

We’re also confused about how Jay Roach got the gig directing Trumbo. What was it about Dinner For Schmucks that suggested he was the right man for the job? On a side note, the more you say the word ‘Trumbo’, the stranger your day becomes.

“The successful career of 1940s screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) comes to a crushing end when he and other Hollywood figures are blacklisted for their political beliefs. Trumbo tells the story of his fight against the U.S. government and studio bosses in a war over words and freedom, which entangled everyone in Hollywood from Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) and John Wayne to Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.”

Trumbo stars Bryan Cranston, Diane Lane, Elle Fanning, Alan Tudyk, John Goodman, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Helen Mirren, Michael Stuhlbarg and Louis C.K. and is set for release in November, 2015.
